Last week was the halfway point of the 2025 WNC high school baseball season. That means it's time for fans to vote for who they think is the player of the year at this point in the season.
Vote for the baseball player you think has had the best season. The poll closes at noon on Thursday.
Carson Wallace, Erwin: Wallace is hitting .621 with a slugging percentage of 1.000. He has five doubles, two home runs, 13 RBIs and 11 runs scored.
Max Shelton, Madison: Shelton's six home runs are fifth best in North Carolina. He's also batting .447 with 18 RBIs in 11 games.
Jacob Davis, McDowell: Davis is pacing the MAC in several categories, including batting average (.630) and earned run average (0.89). He has 15 RBIs, two home runs and only four strikeouts while putting up a 3-0 record with 29 strikeouts in 15.2 innings pitched.
Peyton Maybin, North Henderson: Over 31.2 innings pitched, Maybin has struck out 54 batters. He has a 0.66 ERA with a 3-3 record.
Gunnar Alm, Polk County: Alm, a NC State commit, has hit four home runs for the Wolverines and is batting .562 with an on-base plus slugging percentage of 1.870. He has three doubles, two triples, 11 RBIs and 16 runs scored.
Caden Davidson, Roberson: Davidson is batting .475 for the Rams, recording five doubles, two home runs, 18 RBIs and 13 runs scored.
Micah Simpson, Roberson: Simpson has recorded a 5-1 record with a 0.93 ERA over 29 innings pitched and has struck out 29 batters. He's hitting .439 with 17 RBIs and a home run.
Amos Rich, Tuscola: The North Carolina commit has a 1.47 ERA through four appearances and 19 innings this season, striking out 30.
