There’s a new number one team in the latest NCAA Division II Baseball Rankings. That is, of course, Angelo State. The No. 1 Rams return to their home diamond on Saturday, April 5 to begin a four-game series with No. 24 St. Edward’s.
Angelo State has won 10 straight games. Its last loss came on March 10, an 18-17 loss at Lubbock Christian. In the active winning streak, the Rams have scored 10 or more runs six times. Going into this pivotal top-25 matchup between Lone Star Conference foes, team versatility is key in ASU head coach Kevin Brooks’ vision.
“The key you have to have to have a great offense is to be able to score runs in a lot of ways, and [Angelo State]’s done a really god job of that. If the weather forecast holds for the weekend, it’ll be a pitching type, defense type series and [Angelo State] will have to continue to do that well,” Brooks said.
Game one begins at 1pm on Saturday, April 5 followed by game two at 4pm.
