The Bucs' safety group has seen some losses this offseason, and on Thursday, they suffered another one. Free agent safety Mike Edwards reportedly agreed to terms with his old team, the Kansas City Chiefs.
The deal was first reported by Tom Pelissero of NFL Media, it is for just one year.
Edwards joined the Bucs in the middle of the 2024 season and played in just eight games for the team, starting in one of them. In total, 2024 was his fifth season with the Bucs but he also had stops in Buffalo and Kansas City. His return to the Chiefs has him going back to the team he won a Super Bowl with as they look to fix their secondary by finding more playmakers for that group.
Edwards had his best season with the Chiefs in 2023 when he forced two fumbles, scored one defensive touchdown, and played in all 17 games.
