Every NFL team has what people can perceive as perfect picks, or ones that at least make the most sense. Whether those players actually fall to them is another story.
Chad Reuter of NFL Media wrote about ideal draft fits for every NFL team this past week. For the Bucs, he selected Tennessee edge rusher James Pearce Jr. and South Carolina safety Nick Emmanwori.
Reuter explains his choices for the two players, writing, "Emmanwori is a big safety who can play in the box to complement Antoine Winfield Jr. -- the versatility of both defensive backs would make life easier for Bucs coaches and more difficult for opposing offenses. Thanks to a lack of bulk and an inconsistent 2024 performance, Pearce might be available on Day 2. And he could grow into a starter as he matures playing behind veteran free-agent signee Haason Reddick."
Both players could honestly be in play for the Bucs at 19 overall. Both would be graded as A+ picks for the team as well, so this tracks on them being fits. One could argue that the idea of Pearce Jr. makes more sense given their need for a reliable pass rusher, but passing up on Emmanwori may be hard to do.
It is a good situation to be in if you are the Bucs.
