USC running back enters transfer portal

USC spring practice is officially underway. While the excitement of football is in the air, that also means that the spring transfer portal window is just around the corner. This week, the Trojans had their first player announce his plans to enter the portal when it opens in redshirt sophomore running back A'Marion Peterson.

Peterson arrived at USC in 2023. In two years with the program, he carried the ball 18 times for 79 yards and caught two passes for 13 yards. He scored his lone touchdown as a Trojan against Utah State this past season.

This past year, Peterson was USC's third string running back behind Woody Marks and Quinten Joyner. While Marks is off to the NFL and Joyner transferred to Texas Tech, USC added multiple other running backs this offseason, including New Mexico's Eli Sanders, who rushed for over 1,000 yards last season.

Peterson stuck around USC through the start of spring ball in order to compete for playing time. With his prospects of rising up the depth chart seemingly dimming, however, he will now look elsewhere for the 2025 season.
