Texas A&M freshman forward has entered the transfer portal

Texas A&M's 2025-2026 roster is now one player away from being completely empty just two days after head coach Buzz Williams departed the program after six seasons to take over the Maryland Terrapins, which began as a rumor late last week. Over the previous two days, several players have entered the portal, headlined by junior forwards Pharrel Payne and Solomon Washington, who will likely join Williams in College Park.

After Washington entered his name on Thursday afternoon, only two players remained on the team, forwards Chris McDermott and George Turkson Jr., who, like redshirt freshman guard Andre Mills, are very close to Buzz Williams and are system fits, which is why they committed to Texas A&M in the first place. Another domino fell on Thursday night as Turkson entered the transfer portal, leaving McDermott as the last remaining player on the roster.

Turkson entered the portal with a "do not contact" tag, which has been the case for nearly every Aggie transfer thus far. While Andre Mills, who is a Massachusetts native, could quickly transfer somewhere close to home, I wouldn't be shocked if every player outside of Jaelyn Lee followed Williams to Maryland.

Turkson is an athletic forward and elite rebounder who would have seen more play time this season.
