Comment: The freshman helped the Yellowjackets earn three Channel League wins last week. On Tuesday, she allowed just one earned run and struck out seven in a complete-game effort in a 10-2 win over San Marcos. On Wednesday, Herrera went 3 for 3 with two doubles and five RBIs in a 19-5 win over Buena. On Friday, she allowed one earned run while striking out six in a 5-2 win over San Marcos. Herrera, who also plays flag football, is hitting .455 with five doubles, two triples, two homers and 17 RBIs and is 7-3 with a 1.90 ERA and 77 strikeouts in 66.1 innings for the Yellowjackets, who are 11-4-1 overall and 5-0 in league.
THOMAS ALAMILLO
School: Fillmore
Year: Junior
Sport: Baseball
Comment: The junior used his arm and bat to help the Flashes win two Citrus Coast League games against Nordhoff last week. On Wednesday, Alamillo went 2 for 3 with two RBIs and pitched a scoreless inning with three strikeouts for the save in a 7-4 victory. On Friday, he hurled a four-hit shutout with five strikeouts and had an RBI in a 4-0 win. Alamillo, who plays receiver and safety for the football team, is 3-2 with a 2.76 ERA and 42 strikeouts in 28 innings.
