The Seattle Seahawks are arguably experiencing the craziest offseason of any team in the NFL. The Seahawks parted ways with starting quarterback Geno Smith and superstar wide receiver DK Metcalf by trading them to the Las Vegas Raiders and Pittsburgh Steelers respectively. Now, head coach Mike Macdonald discussed their exits at the annual league ownership meetings.
"It wasn't like we just snapped a finger and lost those two guys," Macdonald told reporters. "It's a process. At the end of the day, that's what happened. We kept a mentality throughout, why are we making these decisions? If we go down this road, what does it look like? Is it best for our team? That's the criteria. It seemed like it happened really quickly but we feel like we went through the process the right way and made the best decision for us."

The Seahawks replaced Smith by signing Sam Darnold in free agency to a lucrative three-year contract worth a little more than $100 million. Taking Metcalf's spot will be former Los Angeles Ramswide receiver Cooper Kupp. Seattle's offense will look drastically different in 2025.
