Seahawks' Mike Macdonald believes Dre'Mont Jones will give Titans extra flexibility

In a move met with mixed reviews by outside outlets, the Tennessee Titans signed former Seattle Seahawks edge Dre’Mont Jones to a one-year, $10 million deal.

The Seattle Seahawks released Jones in early March before entering the final year of his three-year, $51.5 million deal. His addition will give the front seven of the defense some experience and allow them to focus on the edge.

During his press availability, his former coach in Seattle, Mike Macdonald, spoke highly of the veteran pass rusher.

“He's a great guy to have moving around,” Macdonald said. “(He) gives you pass rush flexibility to be able to rush the passer inside and outside.”

Macdonald also mentioned scheme fit in Seattle and disagreed with those who claimed Jones was miscast with the Seahawks.

The Titans desperately need to add a pass rush to their defense. The unit struggled to get to the quarterback in 2024 and must improve in 2025. After releasing Harold Landry earlier in the offseason, their edge room was left thin on both bodies and playmakers, making the acquisition of Jones an important one.
