Rams have spent more draft capital on RBs since 2020 than all but 5 teams

The Los Angeles Rams have cycled through several running backs since parting ways with Todd Gurley in 2020, including Cam Akers, Darrell Henderson Jr. and Kyren Williams.

They’ve also drafted the likes of Blake Corum and Zach Evans, selecting at least one running back in every draft since 2018. Sean McVay and Les Snead can never seem to pass up the position, knowing how frequently tailbacks get injured and worn down.

In fact, the Rams have used more draft capital on running backs since 2020 than all but five teams in the NFL. Only the Lions, Jets, Jaguars, Falcons and Seahawks have spent more draft capital on running backs.

The Rams would likely be even higher on this list if it went back to 2019 when they drafted Henderson in the third round out of Memphis.

The Rams seem to have found their workhorse in Williams, who they stole in the fifth round out of Notre Dame in 2022. He’s been outstanding ever since, rushing for 2,582 yards and 26 touchdowns in his career thus far.

The Rams could still draft another running back this year to complement Williams and Corum, potentially a pass-catching specialist with breakaway speed. They lacked big plays out of the backfield so finding a change-of-pace guy who can rip off long runs could be beneficial for the offense.
