FOX Sports' Ralph Vacchiano picked one tradeable player for all 32 teams ahead of the 2025 NFL Draft. For the Rams, Vacchiano selected safety Kam Curl, who started 16 games for L.A. in 2024.
"The Rams' pass defense wasn't good last season and their secondary was a big reason why," Vacchiano wrote. "Curl clearly didn't have the impact many expected he'd have when he came over from Washington. But the Rams got Curl cheap, signing him to a surprisingly low two-year, $9 million deal, which makes him very tradeable. He's also still only 26 years old, so there could be someone who believes he can recapture the ability he showed with the Commanders. Maybe there's a better defensive fit out there, and the Rams can get a Day 3 pick back in return."
This isn't the first time Curl has been tabbed as a trade candidate. Pro Football Focus named Curl as the Rams' best tradeable asset, too. All of Vacchiano's reasons make sense, including the fact that Curl is on the final year of his deal and will likely leave in free agency unless the Rams feel strongly about bringing him back.
Curl finished the 2024 season with 79 combined tackles, one sack, nine defended passes and two forced fumbles.
There is some risk involved in letting Curl go now, though, when the Rams are looking to compete for a Super Bowl this season. There is no clear replacement option unless the Rams draft one in April, which could turn this position into an even greater weakness if Curl is moved before the season.
But, if the Rams draft a quality player who could start in Week 1, it might may sense to capitalize on picking up more draft capital for a young player in the final year of his deal. Whether or not this scenario materializes remains to be seen, though.
