2025 NFL Draft: 1 safety the Rams could target on each day

Safety is not a major need for the Rams with their current depth chart, but its one defensive coordinator Chris Shula could look to upgrade with another young player.

The duo of Kamren Kinchens and Kam Curl are solid, but Curl is in the final year of his deal and the Rams don’t have any depth behind them. Adding a rookie to this group insulates the secondary from injury and opens the door for a long-term plan at the position.

Here is one safety the Rams could target on each day of the 2025 NFL Draft.

Day 1: Nick Emmanwori, South Carolina

Emmanwori combines raw power and size with speed at a position that requires both. He stands at 6-foot-3, weighs 220 pounds and ran a blistering 4.38 40-yard dash time at the NFL combine in February. Emmanwori had a productive final college season, too, with four interceptions (two he returned for touchdowns), 88 combined tackles and three tackles for a loss.

Day 2: Billy Bowman Jr., Oklahoma

Bowman is a ballhawk safety. He led FBS with six interceptions in 2023, including a nation-leading three he returned for a touchdown. Bowman also tallied 122 solo tackles, 10 tackles for a loss, 11 interceptions and 14 defended passes in 47 career games for the Sooners. He's a bit small for the position at 5-foot-10 and 200 pounds, but Bowman makes up for that with his 4.42 40-yard dash time.

Day 3: Lathan Ransom, Ohio State

The 6-foot-1, 210-pound Ransom is an experienced tackling defensive back. He has 142 solo tackles in 56 career games for the Buckeyes with 3.5 sacks and three forced fumbles. Ransom is also a good run defender. If the Rams want good depth who could eventually take over, Ransom is a solid Day 3 pick.
