VERO BEACH, Fla. Greenup County ended its spring break trip with three consecutive victories last week.
The Musketeers defeated DeSales, 7-3, on Tuesday, took care of Montini Catholic from Lombard, Illinois, 8-2, on Thursday, and delivered a final win over Ketchikan, Arkansas, 14-4, on Friday at the Jackie Robinson Training Complex in Vero Beach, Florida.
Hunter Holbrook took the win over the Colts and produced three hits at the plate. He scored twice and knocked a run as Greenup County put three tallies on the board in the fourth and sixth innings. The Musketeers totaled eight hits in the contest. Kasey Gammon drove in two runs. Luke Boggs had a triple.
Holbrook allowed just three hits and struck out two over six innings.
Holbrook stayed hot against Montini Catholic by driving in four runs. He collected a base hit in the third inning that brought two to the plate. The sophomore added a sacrifice fly in the fifth and a run-scoring single in the opening frame.
Boggs went the distance on the bump to secure the win. He gave up six hits and two runs while striking out a pair during his workday.
Sawyer Hatfield (two), Ty Logan (three) and Gammon (two) combined to post seven runs. Gavin Roy and Colin Alexander added RBIs.
Greenup County (6-5) concluded the Florida trip with a mercy-rule win over Ketchikan. Gage Lamarque, Alexander, Gammon, Logan and Roy each delivered RBIs during a six-run fifth inning to break the game open. Lamarque sent a pair to the plate with a single.
Gammon toted the rubber for the Musketeers, striking out seven and allowing only one earned run to record the win. Gammon drove in five runs on two extra-base hits, enough to help himself out for the victory.
Ketchikan pitching walked six batters.
Greenup County returns home to face Ashland on Tuesday.
