LSU baseball shuts out Oklahoma as Kade Anderson puts the Sooners in "The Matrix"

LSU baseball travelled to Oklahoma for their first ever meeting as SEC foes on Thursday night. LSU took game one as ace Kade Anderson went the distance for the 2-0 win.

This game was a pitchers' duel between Kade Anderson and Kyson Witherspoon.

Both starting pitchers looked phenomenal in this one, and it shaped up to be one of those games where the first team to score would win. In the top of the third inning, LSU did just that as Jared Jones hit an RBI single to score Derek Curiel and give LSU a 1-0 lead.

LSU would add onto that lead in the top of the fifth inning when Chris Stanfield hit an RBI double to give LSU some breathing room and increase the lead to 2-0.

In an era where you often see pitchers getting pulled in the fifth or sixth inning, Anderson was having none of that on Thursday night. He just kept trotting out to the mound and mowing down Sooner hitters.

As we headed to the bottom of the ninth inning, Anderson once again went back out as he looked to go the distance and finish the first complete game of his LSU career.

He recorded a popup, a flyout, and a groundout as he slammed the door on the No. 10 Sooners in their own ballpark. Anderson went the full nine innings and gave up ZERO runs on five hits, 14 strikeouts, and two walks.

With the win, LSU improves to 28-3 overall and 8-2 in conference play. Game Two of the series is scheduled to start Friday night at 6:30 PM CT.
