LSU baseball falls to Texas after chaotic game two
LSU baseball entered Saturday's game looking to secure a series win vs. Texas. Unfortunately, they couldn't pull that off as a late rally led Texas to an 11-7 win to tie the series.
Anthony Eyanson got the start on the mound for the Tigers and he worked through three scoreless innings before a run was scored by either team. In the top of the fourth, Steven Milam was walked with the bases loaded to give the Tigers an early lead.
Luis Hernandez followed that up with an RBI on a fielder's choice and LSU went up 2-0. In the bottom of the inning, Texas got both of those runs back with an RBI groundout and an RBI single to tie the game 2-2.

The next four innings of the game would be the polar opposite of the first four innings with the offense starting to pick up.
In the fifth inning, LSU and Texas both scored more than two runs in one inning. In the top of the fifth, Jared Jones hit an RBI double, Jake Brown hit an RBI single, and Milam hit a sacrifice fly to give LSU a 5-2 lead. While the Tigers had secured some breathing room, that lead was not safe as Texas scored three runs.
Eyanson was pulled from the game after getting one out in the bottom of the fifth. Conner Ware then entered to pitch and he was pulled after failing to record an out. William Schmidt entered the game and Texas scored on a passed ball and a three-run homer to take a 6-5 lead.
In the top of the sixth inning, Derek Curiel hit a two-run shot to give LSU the lead back at 7-6.

Texas pulls away late
Connor Benge, DJ Primeaux, and Jacob Maryers all entered the game to pitch and Texas was able to score two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning and three runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to turn a 7-6 LSU lead into an 11-7 Longhorn lead. LSU was unable to score any runs in the final three innings as they fell in game two.
With the loss, LSU falls to 22-2 on the season and 4-1 in conference play. The winner-take-all rubber match will be played on Sunday at 2 PM.
