LSU baseball survives a late scare to take the series against Missouri
After an emphatic win on Friday night, LSU baseball looked to clinch the series vs. Missouri on Saturday. The Tigers got it done.
Missouri cut the lead to one run in the seventh but that is as close as they could get as Casan Evans shut the door for a 7-6 Tigers win.
Unlike Friday, LSU got on the board first. A two-run homer by Josh Pearson gave the good Tigers a 2-0 lead early. LSU scored another run in the bottom of the second inning when Michael Braswell III hit a sacrifice groundout to extend the lead to 3-0.
Anthony Eyanson got the start on the mound for LSU in Game two and he got through the first two innings unscathed, but Missouri finally got to him in the top of the third inning as they scored a run to cut the lead to 3-1. In the top of the fourth inning, Missouri took their first lead with a three-run homer to take a 4-3 lead.

LSU re-takes the lead
In the bottom of the fourth inning, Braswell hit a bunt single to tie the game 4-4. That was followed by a two-RBI single to give LSU a 6-4 lead. Eyanson was pulled from the game after 4.2 innings. He ended with four earned runs on seven hits, five strikeouts, and one walk. Conner Ware entered to pitch after him. Ware worked 1.1 innings and did not allow any runs on zero hits, two strikeouts, and no walks. William Schmidt then entered to pitch for LSU.

In the bottom of the sixth inning, Braswell hit an RBI single to extend the LSU lead to 7-4. In the top of the seventh, Missouri roared back with a solo shot to cut the lead to 7-5. After running into trouble to start the seventh, Schmidt was pulled from the game in favor of DJ Primeaux.
Primeaux entered the game with zero outs and runners on first and second. He hit the first batter he faced and loaded the bases. He then got a double play but a run scored to cut the lead to 7-6. DJ walked the next batter and Casan Evans entered to pitch with runners on the corner and two outs. Evans forced a groundout and got LSU out of the inning with a 7-6 lead.

In the top of the eighth inning, Missouri loaded the bases once again but Evans struck out two hitters to strand the bases loaded and preserve the 7-6 lead. LSU was unable to score any runs in the bottom of the eighth inning and we went to the ninth clinging to a one run lead.
Evans remained in the game to try to close it out. He struck out the first hitter he faced to get out number one. He struck out the second batter as well. The next hitter singled to put the tying run on first with two outs. Evans then got a groundout to end the game and give LSU a 7-6 win.
With the win, LSU moves to 19-1 on the season and 2-0 in conference play. LSU will go for the sweep on Sunday at 1 PM.
