Rams named 'best fit' for Pro Bowl WR Keenan Allen
The 2025 NFL Draft is still a month away, but there are still a lot of quality free agents on the open market.
The Los Angeles Rams have some needs left across the roster — mainly on defense — but Bleacher Report's Kristopher Knox believes the Rams are a good fit for a veteran receiver who's still available. Knox wrote that former Chicago Bears and Los Angeles Chargers pass-catcher Keenan Allen would work well in Sean McVay's offense even after the Rams added Davante Adams in free agency.
"Even if Allen isn't the perennial Pro Bowler he once was, he's a smart, experienced receiver with terrific route skills and dependable hands," Knox wrote. "He also doesn't carry the significant injury concerns of Stefon Diggs, who is coming off of a torn ACL.
"Allen would be a solid fit with the Los Angeles Rams, who replaced Kupp with Davante Adams but also lost Demarcus Robinson in free agency. Allen's ability to find space in the secondary would mesh extremely well with Sean McVay's offense, and he'd be a terrific red-zone target for Matthew Stafford."
Allen, who will be 33 in April, finished the 2024 season with 744 yards and seven touchdowns on 70 receptions in his first year with the Chicago Bears. The savvy route-runner would be a clear No. 3 option in the offense behind Adams and Puka Nacua, likely filling the Robinson role that Knox mentioned.
While adding Allen would be fun, it might not really be necessary. The Rams have Tutu Atwell and Jordan Whittington behind Adams and Nacua — two young players who would benefit from more reps. Allen would take away from that experience.
But on the other side of things, Allen is another win-now move for a team looking to push for Super Bowl contention with Matthew Stafford's long-term future in doubt past the 2025 season. A starting trio of Adams, Nacua and Allen would be daunting for opposing defenses and give the Rams' the best receiving core in the NFL by a wide margin.
The price would have to be right, but this wouldn't be as surprising of a move as some may think. Plus, Allen would get to return to the L.A.
