LSU baseball beats Texas to take game one of massive SEC series
LSU baseball traveled to face No. 8 Texas in what is the SEC's biggest baseball series of the weekend. The series got underway on Friday night with LSU picking up the win. The Tigers entered the game 3-0 in conference play after sweeping Missouri last weekend. A four-run seventh inning gave LSU all the insurance it needed as LSU won this one 8-2.
Kade Anderson got the start on the mound for LSU as he looked to get his fifth win on the season. Neither team was able to score in the first three innings, but both stranded runners. Finally, in the bottom of the third inning, Texas drew first blood with an RBI single to take a 1-0 lead.
In the top of the fourth inning, one of LSU's top transfers came through as Luis Hernandez gave the Tigers their first lead of the game with a two-run shot to left field to put LSU up 2-1.

In the bottom of the sixth inning, Texas scored another run with a solo shot off of Anderson to cut the lead to 4-2. LSU would get that run back in the top of the seventh inning as Michael Braswell III got an RBI single out of a bunt to extend the lead to 5-2 Tigers. That wouldn't be all that inning as Chris Stanfield roped an RBI double down the line in left field to make it 6-2. Jared Jones then got in on the fun with a two-RBI single, putting LSU up 8-2.
