LSU baseball falls in rubber match to Texas, drops first SEC road series

Looking to bounce back after Saturday's loss to Texas, LSU baseball (22-3, 4-2 SEC) fell again to the Longhorns (19-3, 5-1) on Sunday afternoon, 6-2, to drop the Tigers' first series of the season.

Unlike Saturday's game, the LSU offense couldn't get anything going Sunday. The Tigers quickly fell into a sizeable deficit and couldn't advance a runner past second base until they finally scored in the sixth inning.

Conversely, the Texas offense kept up the momentum from Saturday's late innings. The Longhorns tagged LSU starter Chase Shores for five runs and chased him before the fifth inning, putting even more strain on a bullpen that had already used seven pitchers the night before.

LSU will be back in action Tuesday night at home against Louisiana. The Tigers' next SEC series will begin at home on Thursday when LSU hosts Mississippi State.
