HS roundup: Adena and Huntington sweep Saturday doubleheaders

Adena and Huntington softball teams swept a pair of doubleheaders, while Zane Trace baseball got a dominating opening win on Saturday.

Peebles 3, Adena 13 (game one): Marly Halcomb went 5-for-5 with a triple, four RBIs, three runs, and three stolen bases. Adriana Guarnieri was 3-of-4 with two doubles, an RBI, two runs and four stolen bases. Adelyn Nelson was 2-of-3 with two RBIs, two runs and a sac fly. Allie Bossert was the winner with three innings pitched, allowing two hits, no runs and one strikeout.

Peebles 1, Adena 13 (game two): Marly Halcomb went 3-of-3 with a double, two RBIs, three runs and a stolen base. Kelsea Brown was 2-of-2 with a double, two RBIs and two runs. Allie Bossert had a complete game, allowing two hits, one earned run and six strikeouts. She also went 2-of-3 with a double, an RBI, two runs, and a stolen base. Lexi Petit went 2-of-2 with an RBI and a run.

Lakeway Christian Academy 12, Southeastern 0: Dylan Skaggs went 1-of-2.

Gibbs 14, Southeastern 0: Ally Fisher, Dylan Skaggs, and Lydia Williams all went 1-of-2.

Huntington 19, West Union 5 (game one): Leah McCloskey got the win, going four innings, giving up two runs and striking out five. She also went 2-of-4 with three runs and three RBIs. Kaylee Kendall had five RBIs going 3-of-3 with two runs and two doubles. Savannah Bushatz had three RBIs going 2-of-3 with four runs, three RBIs, a double and a stolen base. Natalie Osborn went 3-of-4, with two runs and an RBI.

Huntington 15, West Union (game two): Taylor Tisdale went 2-of-3, with two runs, two RBIs, a double and a stolen base. Savannah Bushatz went 2-of-3 with three runs, an RBI and three stolen bases. Leah McCloskey got the win going five innings, with two earned runs and nine strikeouts. She also went 2-of-3 with a run, two RBIs and a double.  

Friday

Paint Valley 4, Washington 2: Kasarah Cantrell pitched a complete game without allowing an earned run, issued no walks and stuck out 10. She also went 1-for-3 at the plate for a run and had a double. Delainey Mannion went 1-for-4 for a run, an RBI, and a stolen base. Kyla Litter went 1-of-3 with a run, an RBI and a stolen base.

Meigs 9, Adena 3: Adelynn Nelson was 3-of-4 with a home run, a double, two RBIs and two runs. Marly Halcomb went 1-of-4, Lexi Pettit and Alexis Blankenship both went 1-of-3.

Jefferson County 4, Southeastern 2: Kylie Williams pitched six innings and gave up four runs, two walks and struck out three. Lydia Williams went 2-of-3, Jade Turner was 0-for-3 with two RBIs, and Ally Fisher went 1-of-3 with a run.

Symmes Valley 8, Westfall 0: Anna Snyder went 2-for-2 with a double in the nonconference loss. Logan McNeal was 1-of-3 with a double.
