Cougars rack up runs, sweep Beavers in doubleheader

Apr. 1—SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — The Beavers didn't have an answer for Sioux Falls' batters.

The Bemidji State softball team gave up a combined 22 runs in its road doubleheader against the Cougars on Monday afternoon, losing by scores of 13-7 and 9-0.

USF started strong in game one, scoring four runs in the bottom of the first inning for an early lead. BSU came storming back in the top of the third, rattling off six runs for a 6-4 advantage. However, Sioux Falls scored nine points in the final three innings to jump back on top and cruise to victory.

The Cougars' bats stayed hot in game two, while Bemidji State's went cold. USF's Duncan Maddi had a strong showing in the circle, allowing just three hits and issuing zero walks and six strikes. Sioux Falls, on the other hand, racked up 12 hits.
