Apr. 1—It was a busy weekend for the Bemidji State women's tennis team.
The Beavers traveled to Grand Forks, North Dakota on Friday evening to take on Minnesota Crookston. On Saturday, BSU went down to Rogers to take on Bethany Lutheran College and Wisconsin-Stout.
Bemidji State came out on the other side of the two-day stretch with a 2-1 record, suffering a 6-1 loss to the Golden Eagles before notching 7-0 victories over BLC and UWS.
Mia Leshem secured the Beavers' lone point against UMC, defeating Asli Oktay by scores of 7-5, 3-6 and 12-10 at No. 2 singles. BSU posted a 2-1 record in doubles against Minnesota Crookston; Leshem and Sophie Groen teamed up at No. 1 doubles to defeat Ariadna Solis Guals and Daniela de Lucas Rivera 6-1 for the one win.
The Beavers rebounded on Saturday by dominating both of their opponents, starting with Bethany Lutheran College. Valesca Rodriguez led the way at No. 1 singles by defeating Sailor Mohlenbrock by scores of 6-3 and 7-5. Ana Lucia Ibáñez snagged another victory at No. 2 singles, besting Emily Yehle by scores of 7-5 and 6-0.
Bemidji State won every other singles match by scores of 6-1 or better and won all three doubles matches.
Wisconsin-Stout fared no better against the Beavers. BSU won all three doubles contests and cruised to six wins in singles. Each singles set was settled by scores of 6-3 or better for Bemidji State.
