The future of Hansi Flick has been a hot topic this week, with Barcelona reportedly keen on tying the German down to a long-term contract.
Though his contract with FC Barcelona runs until 2026, the German manager is keen to extend his stay by another year, until 2027.
But he’s made it clear: this won’t be a blank check renewal. Flick has laid out a series of reasonable conditions that he wants met before signing a new deal, reports Diario SPORT.
Flick eyeing four more renewals
The report points out that Hansi Flick is already impressed by how Barcelona have taken effective steps to secure the future of some of the key stars in the team, including the likes of Gavi, Pedri and Alejandro Balde.
But it appears Flick also has his eyes on players whose futures might be less certain. He’s particularly keen to keep EricGarcia and Frenkie de Jong, whose contracts both end in 2026.
Despite his limited role in the first team, Garcia has shown maturity and resilience, while De Jong continues to be a key part of Barça’s midfield.
Flick is also pushing for longer deals for Jules Kounde and Raphinha, who have had standout seasons. While both are tied until 2027, Barça is looking to secure them until 2030 and 2029, respectively.
Flick is mightily impressed by the way Kounde has adopted the right-back role this season, with the Frenchman now keen on becoming one of the best in the world.
Raphinha’s renewal, though, is quite interesting as recent reports suggest Barcelona could be willing to let him go if they receive an offer in the range of €80-90 million.
Flick, though, doesn’t appear all too keen on offloading Raphinha and wants to retain his services, as he builds the footprint for Barcelona in the years to come.
