Barcelona’s resurgence in 2025 under Hansi Flick has been nothing short of spectacular.

With an unbeaten streak now stretching to 23 matches — comprising 19 victories and 4 draws — the German is not only transforming the team’s form but also quietly etching his name into the club’s managerial history books.

Tonight’s clash against Leganes offers him the chance to equal a milestone set by none other than Frank Rijkaard, one of the most iconic coaches in the Blaugrana’s modern era.

Equalling Rijkaard’s record

Rijkaard’s formidable run of 24 games without defeat during the 2005/06 season included 20 wins and four draws, a sequence that laid the groundwork for Barcelona’s European and domestic dominance that year.

Flick, should he avoid defeat against Leganes, will match that mark — a significant achievement for a manager still relatively early in his tenure at the club.

What makes Flick’s run even more impressive is the calibre of names he has already overtaken.

Former managers like Johan Cruyff (19), Tito Vilanova (15), and Xavi (18) are now behind him in terms of unbeaten stretches at the helm of Barça.

Then there would be three

Interestingly, Flick’s ambitions do not stop there. If the team continues this streak, Pep Guardiola’s 28-match unbeaten run from the 2010/11 season becomes the next major checkpoint.

Go one step further, and Ernesto Valverde’s 29-match streak in 2017/18 comes into view.

And for those daring to dream big, Luis Enrique’s all-time club record of 39 unbeaten matches (32 wins, 7 draws) from the 2015/16 season remains the ultimate target.

What is clear is that Flick has instilled a mentality and tactical clarity in this young Barcelona side that is beginning to echo the great teams of the past.

His rotations have been smart, his approach balanced, and most importantly, results have followed.
