Fowler's Jacob Halfmann leads area's all-state boys basketball selections in Division 4

Fowler's Jacob Halfmann, right, brings the ball up court against pressure from Allen Park Inter-City Baptist's Josh Hamilton, Thursday, March 13, 2025, in East Lansing.

The Fowler boys basketball team had a memorable run this winter.

And one of their key players was honored for the role he played in the Eagles earning their best state tournament finish since 2002.

Fowler senior guard Jacob Halfmann earned first team all-state recognition in Division 4 on the Michigan High School Sports Writers squad.

Halfmann was honored after averaging 12.2 points as part of a balanced attack for the Eagles as they finished as the state runner-up. He averaged 4.3 assists, 3.5 rebounds, 1.6 steals and shot 80% from the free-throw line while helping Fowler to a 24-5 record. Halfman ended his career with more than 1,000 points.

Halfmann was one of three from Greater Lansing to earn all-state recognition in Division 4.  Fowler coach Kam Riley was a second team selection after guiding the Eagles to district and regional titles and a state runner-up finish. The Eagles had a seven-win improvement this season.

Webberville’s Dominic Driver was named honorable mention all-state.
