Dolphins' newly signed lineman ready to play guard or tackle: 'Whatever is needed'

The Miami Dolphins are rebuilding their offensive line and newly signed Larry Borom doesn't know yet where he fits. But whatever the plan is, the veteran lineman is ready to make an impact.

"[There] hasn’t been too much communication," Borom said on a call with reporters Monday. "I’m just excited to get in the room and just help any way I can.”

Borom, who turns 26 next week, spent the first four years of his career almost exclusively at tackle with the Chicago Bears. His only experience playing guard came in the final weeks of the 2022 season when he was forced to make one start each at left and right guard due to injuries. The other 96.7 percent of his career offensive snaps came at left and right tackle.

“I feel like I can do some of everything," Borom said. "So I think either or, whatever is needed to help the team win.”

The Dolphins could use help at both spots on their line. Guard was a weakness for the team in 2024 and it allowed starter Robert Jones to leave as a free agent. The other spot was manned by Liam Eichenberg, who was re-signed earlier this month, and Isaiah Wynn, who is currently a free agent.

While the team filled one of those deficiencies by signing former Pittsburgh Steelers guard James Daniels, it'd be a surprise if the team intends for Eichenberg to be a starter in 2025.

At tackle, Miami is still waiting to see if Terron Armstead will return, but has a pair of starters in place, regardless, in Austin Jackson and 2024 second-round pick Patrick Paul. However, veteran swing tackle Kendall Lamm joined the Philadelphia Eagles on a one-year deal, leaving little depth for the squad.

Borom played in 47 games during his time with the Bears and made 27 starts.
