Clinton's Aubrey Lauer historic chase among top headlines for 2025 girls soccer preview

Coming into the 2025 season, all eyes are on Clinton's Aubrey Lauer.

The senior is chasing history, but there's quite a few returning All-County members from last season looking to make a name for themselves as well.

It should be an exciting season on pitches across Lenawee County this year:

Clinton's Aubrey Lauer pushes the ball up the pitch during a game against Blissfield.

Lauer chasing history

As a freshman playing alongside Maddie Freitas, Lauer had her moments, but was overshadowed by Freitas' 70-goal performance.

Freitas ended with 195 goals, the most in Lenawee County history, a record almost unimaginable to top.

That is until Lauer's 75-goal performance last season, giving her a career mark of 158 entering the 2025 season. She's not only 38 goals away from breaking' Freitas' county record, but she's 71 from breaking the MHSAA record set by Libby Munoz of Leland from 2013-16.

Lauer will be leading a Clinton team looking to win a fourth-straight LCAA title and has an all-time league record of 32-0-1, including 15-straight wins. It'll be challenge however, as the Redwolves lost mainstays Anna Schaffner, Cylee Elkins and Allison Bowles to graduation.

Back for more

Tatum Borton had a big season in 2024 and led Adrian to a record-setting, 14-win season and the SEC White championship

Borton and the Maples return a bulk of the team as First Team All-County members, juniors Jaleigh Niese and Izzy Dusseau, second team members, juniors Sienna Gauna, Ella Salenbien and Reese Beauleaux and honorable mentions, juniors Jaeden Wetzel and Bridget Alexander are all back to add on to last season's success.

Lenawee strong

Coming into the season, this looks to be one of the deepest girls soccer seasons in county history.

Adrian and Clinton are back to defend the LCAA and SEC White titles, five of the six area teams finished last season with a winning record.

Blissfield was second in the LCAA to Redwolves and has junior Hope Miller and senior Arianna Drake back this season after earning All-County second team and honorable mention honors respectively.

Onsted was third in the LCAA and has junior Aubreigh Smith back after earning second team honors and honorable mentions, sophomores Mattie Hallenbeck and Izzy Raglow returning as well.

Lenawee Christian is always one of the top teams in the area and this season won't change. The Cougars return senior All-County First Team members, Callie Anderson and Ila Stewart, second team members, sophomore Gigi Masters and junior Sam Shane and honorable mentions, sophomores Brynn Davis, Ava Feick and Kendall Plate.

LCS was the last program to win a postseason title, taking a district championship in 2021.
