The Alabama Crimson Tide continued their hot start to the 2025 college baseball season over the weekend by taking two of three games from the No. 9 Oklahoma Sooners in SEC weekend series play.
The Crimson Tide (26-4 overall, 6-3 SEC) followed it up with another midweek victory on Tuesday by holding off the Samford Bulldogs for an 11-9 win at Sewell-Thomas Stadium. Coach Rob Vaughn's team visits Auburn to resume SEC play beginning Friday.
Needless to say, Alabama baseball enters the month of April with high postseason expectations. The Crimson Tide are ranked No. 8 in every major Top 25 poll this week, including the USA TODAY Sports' Coaches Poll. Their 16-0 start to the season tied a program-best mark. Before 2023, Alabama hadn't been to a Super Regional since the 2010 season when they fell to Clemson in a winner-take-all Game 3.
On Wednesday, Baseball America unveiled its new Field of 64 projections for the 2025 NCAA Tournament. Alabama was a projected No. 8 national seed, one seed below the Clemson Tigers. The Crimson Tide's 8-6 series-clinching win over Oklahoma last Sunday moved them ahead of the Sooners for the final projected top eight seed.
The top five national seeds in Baseball America's projections are the No. 1 Tennessee Volunteers, followed by the Arkansas Razorbacks (No. 2), Texas Longhorns (No. 3), Georgia Bulldogs (No. 4) and LSU (No. 5).
Finishing with a top eight national seed would mean the Crimson Tide would also host a best-of-three Super Regional, if they win their four-team on-site regional. Baseball America currently projects Alabama to host Florida A&M from the SWAC, ...
