Canyon girls, Dumas boys win Amarillo Relays: Results from the 74th Meet of Champions
AMARILLO — The Canyon girls and Dumas boys won varsity team titles at the 74th Annual Amarillo Relays track and field meet Saturday at Dick Bivins Stadium.
The Demons won four events, including two relays, to rack up 98 points on the boys' side. Amarillo High followed with 97 after the Demons won the 4x400-meter relay to earn win the Meet of Champions.
Tascosa rounded out the top three with 62 points.
The Canyon girls dominated the distance races with wins in the 3200, 1600 and 800. The Lady Eagles took first and second place in the mile and the two mile, with Addyson Bristow winning the mile and Avery Brown finishing in second place.
Bristow also won the 800-meter run, setting a new meet record and clocking the fastest time in the country this season at 2:06.64. Brown placed first in the 3200 while freshman Michaela Sharber finished second.
Canyon totaled 98 points to beat out runner-up Amarillo High (94) and Randall (92).
