Cathedral Prep boys and girls aquatic teams record top-three team results for PIAA meet
LEWISBURG — The Cathedral Prep Ramblers finished second in the Class 2A girls team standings after Thursday's last small-school championship session for the PIAA swimming and diving meet.
Prep's girls compiled 173 points in their bid to claim that particular state title for the first time since the Catholic Diocese of Erie closed Villa Maria Academy in 2022. Their total included 80 for winning Wednesday's 200-yard medley and freestyle relays at Bucknell University's Kinney Natatorium.
The Ramblers led Mt. Pleasant by three points going into Thursday's 400 free relay finale, but the District 7 power prevailed with its gold medal effort. The Vikings finished with 189 points thanks to that result.
Prep's boys, with 137 points, placed third in their team standings. Mt. Pleasant (198) also topped that field.
This is a developing story that the Erie Times-News will continue to follow.
