Breaking down Tennessee basketball's chances for 2025 Final Four, Elite Eight, Sweet 16
No. 2 seed Tennessee (27-7) will open NCAA Tournament play on Thursday. The Vols are in the Midwest Region and will face No. 15 Wofford (19-15) at Rupp Arena in Lexington, Kentucky.
Tipoff between the Vols and Terriers is scheduled for 6:50 p.m. EDT and will be televised by TNT.
Tennessee will look to advance to the Sweet 16 for a third consecutive season. The Vols have never made the NCAA Tournament Sweet 16 for three straight campaigns in program history.
Tennessee and head coach Rick Barnes made its second Elite Eight appearance all time in 2024. The Vols also made the Elite Eight in 2010 under then-head coach Bruce Pearl.
Ahead of the 2025 NCAA Tournament, ESPN's Men's Basketball Power Index released updated chances for how far teams could advance.
Tennessee has a 95.7 percent chance of defeating Wofford in the first round, and a 78.8 percent chance to appear in its third consecutive Sweet 16.
ESPN's BPI gives Tennessee a 52.5 percent chance of playing in the Elite Eight, while the Vols are receiving 22.0 percent odds to make the Final Four.
Tennessee also has a 9.2 percent chance of advancing to the national championship game and 4.6 percentage odds of winning a national championship.
The 2025 Final Four will be contested, April 5-7, at Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas.
