Beeville boys win state powerlifting championship
The Beeville boys concluded their strong 2025 powerlifting season by claiming first place at the state meet during the weekend at the Expo Center of Taylor County in Abilene.
The Trojans were powered by Ryne Espinoza (198) and Cayetano Vidaurri (242), who each won gold medals in their respective weight classes.
Vidaurri, who lifted a total of 1,960 pounds, won best squat and bench in the heavyweight division. Arnulfo Puga finished in third place in the 275-pound class for the Trojans.
Other top-five finishes were San Diego's Victor Madrigal (1,050); San Diego's Devon Hernandez (965); Taft's Alex Martinez (1,155 pounds); London's James Martinez (1,115 pounds); Bishop's Tre Galvan (1,325 pounds); Taft's Sergio Leal (1,275 pounds); London's Zak Chapa (1,480 pound); Mathis' Aaron Acosta (1,520 pounds); London's Easton Nguyen (1,475 pounds); Santa Gertrudis Academy's Ayden Garcia (1,605 pounds); Mathis' Damion Trevino (1,730); Hebbronville's Nathan Martinez (1,690 pounds); Hebbronville's Adren Flores (1,800 pounds); San Diego's Marcel Sanchez (1,780 pounds); Tuloso-Midway's Israel Perez (1,210 pounds); T-M's Jaiden Gutierrez (1,385 pounds); Sinton's Aiden Galvan (1,565 pounds); T-M's Matthew Rodriguez (1,665 pounds); Calallen's Tristian Luna (1,630 pounds); Calallen's Kelten Weber (1,620 pounds); Sinton's Izayah Esparza (1,660 pounds) and Calallen's Fabian Saenz (1,720 pounds).
