Every week, the Beaver County Times recognizes individual athletes and teams for their impressive performances during the previous week of high school sports action. Here are the standout efforts from March 23-29.
Baseball
Brock Budacki, New Brighton
Budacki kicked off the week with a 1-for-3 effort in the team’s 10-3 loss against Laurel on Monday. Then in the second game of the home and home series, Budacki tossed 5.1 innings allowing four runs while fanning six in the team’s 6-5 win over Laurel on Tuesday. He finished the week off collecting one hit and two RBIs in the team’s 10-0 win over Beaver Falls.
Carter Jackson, New Brighton
Jackson went 2-for-3 with 2 RBIs while striking out four in the team’s win over Beaver Falls.
Hunter Garvin, Riverside
Garvin tallied two hits in three at-bats that included two doubles and two RBIs while striking out three batters in 2.1 innings in the team’s 8-1 win over Seneca Valley.
Christian Lucarelli, Riverside
Lucarelli went 4.2 innings, allowing just one run and striking out 11 batters in the team’s win over Seneca Valley.
Zach Hare, Riverside
Hare was dominant in Riverside’s 4-1 win over West Allegheny as he went 4-for-4 with an RBI while also going 6.2 innings and fanning 11, with the one run being unearned.
Derek Hughes, Beaver Area
Hughes collected one hit and two RBIs in the team’s 2-1 win over Hopewell.
Ty Butler, Beaver Area
Along with recording two hits, Butler tossed a complete game, allowing just one run and striking out nine batters in the team’s win over Hopewell. Then on Tuesday, Butler collected another two hits to go along with two RBIs in Beaver Area’s 4-1 win over Hopewell.
Logan Hill, Beaver Area
Hill also pitched a complete game as he struck out 11 batters in the team’s win over Hopewell.
David Medich, Hopewell
Medich pitched six innings and struck out eight batters in the team’s 2-1 loss to Beaver Area.
Daniel McIntosh, Central Valley
McIntosh went 1-for-2 with three RBIs in the team’s 9-7 win over Ellwood City.
Mason O’Donnell, Freedom Area
O’Donnell recorded four RBIs and two hits in Freedom Area’s 14-0 win over Northgate. Then in the second game of the section series, O’Donnell went 2-for-3 with ...
