Michigan State basketball head coach Tom Izzo found himself an ace assistant coach when he hired Jon Borovich away from Northwestern. Since, he has concluded his third year in East Lansing, where he has cemented himself as an outstanding assistant coach with both the X's and O's, and the recruiting aspect.
Recently, Central Michigan's head coaching position has opened up, with Tony Barbee and the Chips parting ways. It now appears that Borovich is the top candidate for CMU.
Borovich does have a strong connection to CMU, having played at the school from 1997-2001. He has never been a head coach in his career, but his alma mater could be the perfect start.
The Michigan State assistant is highly thought of, and Spartans Wire site editor Andrew Brewster even wrote about the possibility of Borovich being a candidate to succeed Izzo. Needless to say, his impact at MSU has been felt.
According to a report from Hoop Dirt, a leading news coverage source of all things regarding college basketball coaching rumors, Borovich is a leading candidate for the CMU job.
"The hot name at Central Michigan is Michigan State assistant Jon Borovich. Borovich is in his third year at MSU, and has also been an assistant at Northwestern, Northern Illinois, Dayton, and Oakland. The Michigan native played at Central Michigan (1997-2001), and started his coaching career as a GA as Michigan State."

If Borovich were to move on from East Lansing to Mount Pleasant, it would be a big blow for the Spartans, but a very cool career move for the MSU assistant.
