PORT HURON — All season long, Jackson Kohler had the Yale community talking about his recording-setting achievements in boys high school basketball.
As it turns out, people around the state were talking about him, too.
Kohler was named to the 2025 Michigan Sports Writers All-State Division 2 First Team last week.
He was on of three players from the Blue Water Area that were recognized. Here's a closer look at each one.
Division 1
Alex Jamison, Port Huron Northern (All-State Second Team): The junior guard led the Huskies to a 15-9 record while averaging 15.5 points, 6.9 rebounds, 4.1 assists and 2.1 steals per game. Jamison surpassed 1,000 career points during the season and was a MAC Red First Team All-League selection.
Division 2
Jackson Kohler, Yale (All-State First Team): Another junior guard, Kohler guided the Bulldogs to a program-record 22-4 finish, a BWAC championship and a district title. He averaged 21.5 points, 5.4 assists, 4.1 rebounds and 3.2 steals per game. Kohler set single-season school records for points (560), steals (82) and 3-pointers (76). In addition to being named the BWAC MVP, he also eclipsed 1,000 career points.
Braylon Frantz, St. Clair (Honorable Mention): Like fellow junior guards Jamison and Kohler, Frantz surpassed 1,000 career points this season. He led the Saints to a 19-6 record and a district championship. Frantz was also named the MAC Gold MVP.
