2025 NFL draft: Tyler Shough named Tennessee Titans' best late-round option at QB

The Tennessee Titans enter the 2025 NFL draft having addressed their top offseason need -- offensive line -- during free agency with the additions of Dan Moore, Kevin Zeitler, and Blake Hance. Unfortunately, they still have a long way to go and have glaring holes at edge, quarterback, and wide receiver.

Max Chadwick of Pro Football Focus (PFF) recently broke down what the Titans and every other team’s biggest post–free agency needs are and offered up two prospects that could address that hole.

These are the early- and late-round prospects who Chadwick believes the Titans could target as they head into the NFL draft.

TENNESSEE TITANS: QUARTERBACK

Day 1 option: Cam Ward, Miami (Fla.)

Day 3 option: Tyler Shough, Louisville

Ward finished the season as the highest-graded quarterback in the nation with an elite 92.9 PFF grade and would help the Titans begin a new chapter under center.

If Tennessee opts to take the best non-quarterback at No. 1, selecting Shough on Day 3 could still bring valuable competition for Will Levis. Shough has 32 career starts and earned an 87.7 passing grade in 2024, ranking fifth in the nation.

There is no doubt many believe Ward has solidified himself as the Titans' pick at No. 1 overall. But with general manager Mike Borgonzi stating every option is on the table, his selection is not definite and Tennessee could look to gain draft capital and build the roster in a different direction.

Shough has been a rising prospect after a solid combine performance. At the event, he answered a number of questions about the seven-year odyssey that eventually took him to Louisville. Much of that centered on his extensive injury history, but most of the injuries were fluke bone breaks and not lingering muscular ailments.

Shough brings a solid combination of size, arm strength, and experience in multiple systems to the table as he enters the league and could seize an opportunity if given. His skill set shows tremendous upside with a chance to quickly develop into a starting caliber quarterback that could outplay his current draft status.

Shough is considered a mid-to-late round pick mostly because of his age and injury history, but could be a steal for a team that takes a shot on him.
