Harris wins Hawaii
Vice President Harris was projected to defeat former President Trump in Hawaii, according to Decision Desk HQ, adding the deep-blue state’s four Electoral College votes to Harris’s column.
Hawaii has voted blue in every presidential election since 1988, and it was seen as a safe state for Harris heading into Tuesday’s election.
Democrats also make up all of the state’s small, four-member congressional delegation — and the party controls a trifecta of both chambers of the state Legislature and the governor’s mansion.
President Biden easily won the Democratic primary in Hawaii earlier this year, though he was dinged by notable protest votes from the island chain’s Democrats. Nearly 3 in 10 cast their vote for “uncommitted,” seen as a rebuke of the administration’s handling of the Israel-Hamas war. The uncommitted push has continued to pose problems for Harris’s campaign in the razor-tight presidential race.
