York Suburban athletic director Ron Coursey steps down after two years

After over two years at his position, York Suburban athletic director Ron Coursey has decided to step down.

Coursey's resignation was accepted by the York Suburban school board at the February 24 board meeting. His last official day was Friday, March 28.

Coursey was approved by the York Suburban school board in December 2022, taking over for former director Matt Marshall. He previously served in the same position at Chambersburg from 2021 to 2022, and before that at Woodland Hills outside Pittsburgh starting in 2017. He had also served as the athletic director at York High for one year before his move to Woodland Hills.

The former Trojans AD was also responsible for organizing both the York Rose Bowl and Hoops For Harmony showcases for football and boys and girls basketball, respectively. The 2025 Hoops for Harmony showcase brought together 51 schools from across Pennsylvania and beyond for a three-day basketball showcase in York County.

York Suburban assistant principal Christopher Adams will act as interim athletic director while the district conducts its hiring process. Adams previously served as the York Suburban AD before Marshall.

Calls to Coursey and York Suburban principal Brian Ellis were not immediately returned.
