HENDERSONVILLE — The Fazio Family Boys & Girls Club of Henderson County welcomes Carl Tucker as its new athletics director. A former Club kid himself, he brings a wealth of experience from his collegiate and NFL athletic career as well as his time as an educator.
Growing up in Concord, he and his siblings participated in sports at the Boys & Girls Club of Cabarrus County, where he first discovered the opportunities athletics could provide. Football led him to UNC-Chapel Hill, where he played for four years and earned a degree in Exercise and Sports Science and Sports Administration. He later played at the University of Alabama, winning a National Championship under Coach Nick Saban, before a short stint in the NFL with the Miami Dolphins.
After his football career, Tucker pursued a passion for teaching, spending three years as a middle school civics teacher in Fort Myers, Florida, where his students achieved a 74% proficiency rating. He also coached tight ends and wide receivers at ECS High School, leading the team to back-to-back district titles.
Now he is returning to North Carolina to take on a role that brings together his love for sports and his commitment to youth development. “Athletics director is exactly what I was looking to do, and there could not have been a better opportunity,” said Tucker. “I’m excited to use my knowledge and experience to contribute to the Club.”
Kent Parent, CEO of the Boys & Girls Club, recognized his potential to make an impact. “We are thrilled to have Carl join our team," said Parent. "His experience, both on and off the field, will be invaluable in strengthening our athletics program and helping our members develop their skills and confidence.”
For Tucker, this role is more than just a job — it’s a homecoming. “There is no place like North Carolina," said Tucker. "I don’t plan on leaving this state ever again, and it is an honor to have the opportunity to serve the Hendersonville community.”
The Fazio Family Boys & Girls Club continues to provide opportunities for youth to grow academically, socially and athletically. With the addition of Tucker to the team, the Club looks forward to expanding its athletics programs and inspiring the next generation.
