Where Ole Miss baseball stands in latest NCAA tournament bracket projections

OXFORD — Ole Miss baseball has come a long way in projections for 2025.

Although the Rebels were projected to finish No. 15 out of 16 teams in the SEC coaches preseason poll, Ole Miss has exceeded expectations so far. The Rebels (22-6, 6-3 SEC) have climbed from unranked to No. 10 in the USA TODAY coaches poll.

After two injury-riddled seasons, Hunter Elliott has returned to ace status for the Ole Miss pitching staff. He is 5-0 with a 3.12 ERA.

D1Baseball projects Ole Miss as the No. 15 overall seed in the NCAA tournament. That would come with a host bid for regional games.

Baseball America projects the Rebels to be the No. 10 team and hosting a regional against Kansas State, Virginia and Central Connecticut.

Ole Miss climbed into the rankings with strong early-season wins against No. 5 Clemson and No. 20 Arizona. The Rebels have also beaten No. 16 Southern Miss. The Rebels lost a series 2-1 against No. 2 Arkansas.

The Rebels' recent postseason history has varied wildly.

The Rebels won the 2022 College World Series but have missed the postseason back-to-back times since. Other than in that stretch, the Rebels have been a consistent factor in the NCAA tournament. Under Mike Bianco, who is in his 25th season coaching Ole Miss, the Rebels have missed the postseason five times.
