What are the Commanders' five biggest remaining needs?
Adam Peters has been busy during the 2025 offseason, coming out in free agency swinging for the fences as he brought in Deebo Samuel and Laremy Tunsil, plus retained Bobby Wagner and others. He knows the Washington Commanders' needs and he went after their biggest needs with frugal vengeance, nabbing players for draft picks.
Even with the moves they made, the Commanders still have some needs to address, whether through free agency or the draft. NFL.com recently released each team's biggest remaining needs, and it's nothing we didn't already know.
Biggest needs: Edge, CB, WR, S, OLThe largest void to fill is off the edge, as free-agent departure Dante Fowler Jr. led Washington with 10.5 sacks last season. Adding competition and security through depth in the secondary would be wise, too. On offense, Commanders GM Adam Peters has four of his top wide receivers playing on expiring deals, including Terry McLaurin and trade acquisition Deebo Samuel.
The Commanders could use some defensive depth at corner and safety, but their biggest defensive need is definitely at the edge. If they can't land a veteran edge rusher before April 24, they can answer this need in the draft.
Offensively, the Commanders are sitting in a good spot. Strengthening the offensive line is still a goal, and adding Deebo Samuel gave Jayden Daniels an additional target, but adding a young wideout in the draft is definitely a good idea.
Peters doesn't have to get crazy this offseason or even spend a ton of money, as he's already shown. The Commanders have an incredibly solid base created in 2024 that they can build on, so they can be picky, they can be choosy, and they can wait for the right fit.
