Jamarion Batemon, Milwaukee Academy of Science boys basketball
The future Iowa State Cyclone hit a cold-blooded 3-pointer from the left wing to give the Novas a 63-61 lead with 1:54 left in a 65-61 victory over Lake Mills in the WIAA Division 3 state semifinals Thursday and then scored 16 points in the title game win over Freedom two days later.
Devin Brown, Milwaukee Academy of Science boys basketball
The Novas big man made big play after big play in MAS's run to the D3 title with a huge block and two free throws at the end of a 19-point, 12-rebound double-double in the semifinals, and then followed that up with 17 points and 19 rebounds in the title game victory over Freedom despite a late injury.
Matthew Kloskey, Wauwatosa West boys basketball
Kloskey dominated down low over the two-game stay for the Trojans in the Division 2 state tournament this past weekend. The junior had a 22-point, 11-rebound double-double in the semifinals Friday over Wausau East and then despite foul trouble poured in a game-high 29 points with seven rebounds in Tosa West's title game triumph over Racine Park.
Isaiah Robinson, Racine Park boys basketball
The senior guard was arguably the best defender that took the Kohl Center court this past weekend. Robinson broke the Division 2 single-game steal record with seven in Park's 65-63 victory over Cedarburg in the semifinals Friday and then broke that same record the next night in the title game against Wauwatosa West with eight steals. His 15 total steals are also a two-game state tournament record for any division.
Zavier Zens, Wisconsin Lutheran boys basketball
Zens helped lead the top-seeded Vikings to the Division 1 state title with Wisconsin Lutheran becoming the first team to win the D2 state title one year and the D1 state title the next. The junior scored 22 points with six rebounds in the semifinals against Oshkosh North and then led the Vikings with 19 points in a 57-55 comeback victory over Marshfield in the final.
