Austin Achieve and Vandegrift are joining Liberty Hill as Austin-area boys soccer teams who have a shot at state glory this week at Birkelbach Field in Georgetown.
Vandegrift defeated Houston Strake Jesuit 2-0 in a Class 6A Division II semifinal Friday at Merrill Green Stadium in Bryan.
Jason Panoff and Nahbi Shrimal scored for the Vipers, with Finn Snyder recording the shutout. Vandegrift plays Mesquite High on Saturday afternoon in the state championship game.
Austin Achieve hammered Needville 4-0 in a Class 4A Division II semifinal Friday at La Grange.
Emmanuel Aranda, Fredy Lozano, Antonio Gutierrez and Santiago Vasquez all had goals for the Polar Bears, who received a clean sheet from goalie Victor Escobar.
Austin Achieve faces Gainesville on Thursday afternoon in the state final.
