T.J. Houshmandzadeh: Giants' Brian Daboll one of NFL's most underrated coaches

New York Giants head coach Brian Daboll is three seasons past his successful debut in 2022 when he took the team to the playoffs and was named the NFL's Coach of the Year.

Since then, Daboll has guided the Giants to a pathetic 9-25 record and they couldn't be further from contention. Still, he is considered a top coach in the league by many players, former players and assorted experts.

In a recent segment on FOX Sports' SPEAK, retired NFL wideout T.J. Houshmandzadeh said he believes Daboll to be a top coach and one of the NFL's most underrated.

"I really think Daboll is one of the most underrated coaches in the league," he said. "He's that good of a coach."

Giants fans can't see the forest for the trees when it comes to their team these days. The bigger picture is that the Giants have a lot of the pieces in place to compete. They were just missing two things: A quarterback and a leader.

They recently added Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston, which should temporarily solve both problems. For the moment, at least. Wilson is a 10-time Pro Bowler and former Super Bowl champion. Winston has become a top motivator and locker room presence after an erratic start to his NFL career.

The Giants are also likely to add a young quarterback in the 2025 NFL draft who they hope will become a franchise player and leader.

Daboll will get the chance to prove Houshmandzadeh right by turning this Giant team back into a contender this year. If he doesn't, he'll likely be shown the door.
