If the Texas Tech baseball team thought the first two months of the season were tough, it's about to get tougher. Just what the Red Raiders, with their 9-20 record, need.
Tech's next four conference opponents are already past 20 victories and at least 10 games over .500.
Tech hosts Baylor (21-11) in a three-game Big 12 series at 6:30 p.m. Friday, 2 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday at Dan Law Field/Rip Griffin Park. Both teams are 5-7 in conference play, in a three-way tie for eighth place with Houston.
After Baylor, Tech's next three conference series are at Arizona State (22-11, 8-4), at home against Arizona (23-9, 8-4) and at No. 23 West Virginia (27-4, 7-3) — the teams that occupy the top three spots in this week's Big 12 baseball power rankings.
Baylor has positioned itself to finish above .500 for the first time since 2021. Short of a dramatic turnaround, Tech is looking at its first losing season since 2013, which was Tim Tadlock's first year as the Red Raiders' head coach.
