COLLEGE STATION — No. 3 Texas A&M softball will host an SEC top-10 showdown against No. 6 LSU this weekend.
The Aggies (34-5, 8-3) had a 2-0 series win against Georgia that was cut short due to rain. A&M won 8-0 Saturday for the first game in the doubleheader, and the Aggies clawed their way back in the second game to win 12-5.
Freshman second baseman KK Dement was named a co-SEC Player of the Week after going 6-for-10 from the batter's box and hit two home runs, one double and 10 RBIs.
LSU (34-5, 8-4) pulled out a series win against Alabama but dropped the Sunday game. Before the Tigers arrive in College Station, the Tigers beat Louisiana Tech 9-1 in midweek action.
Freshman utility player Tori Edwards leads the team in home runs (14) and hits (51). Senior infielder Danieca Coffey has played 40 games for the Tigers with a .447 batting average and 51 hits.
