No. 3 Texas A&M (25-4, 9-3 SEC) secures another Top 10 win to open the series, beating No. 6 LSU (35-6, 8-5 SEC) 12-7 in Game 1 at Davis Diamond.
The Aggies' patience at the plate paid its dividends on Friday night, collecting six walks and 12 hits through the seven innings. Mya Perez made an early case for SEC Player or Week going 4 of 5 at the plate with three doubles and two RBIs on the night. As the ace pitchers dueled, several hard-hit balls caused errors, allowing both teams to push runs across the plate. The lone home run of the night came from Mac Barbara, which gave Texas A&M an early lead, and Olivia Johnson had one of her better nights with two hits and a perfect squeeze bunt to add another run on the board.
Overall, it was a fun game for the fans, and the rest of the series should be just as exciting. with only a few SEC series remaining in the season, winning this series is important to increase both teams' chances of hosting both a Regional and Super Regional.
Texas A&M will face LSU in Game 2 on April 12 at 2:00 pm. CT. The game will be available to stream on SEC Network+.
