Texans announce new jersey numbers, Christian Kirk to wear No. 13, CJGJ to wear No. 23

A fresh set of names are heading to the Houston Texans after free agency for the 2025 season.

Now, fans can grab their jerseys to add on to the collection in the closest.

The Texans announced new jersey numbers for a handful of players, including the connection of No. 13 with No. 7. So yes, Houstonians everywhere will see the 7-13 rapport on offense this season find its way into the end zone for six points on Sundays.

New slot receiver Christian Kirk will continue to rep No. 13, something that has followed him throughout time since entering the league in 2018. After being drafted by the Arizona Cardinals out of Texas A&M, the No. 3 wasn't allowed to be worn by receivers, so he added a No. 1 to the front and called it a day.

Even if Kirk, who joined Houston via trade from Jacksonville this offseason, wanted to decrease his number total by 10, he'd have to pay for it from third-year receiver Tank Dell. The former third-round pick isn't off the roster, but don't expect to see him play much this season after suffering a knee injury in Week 16's loss against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Fans can also expect to see plenty of No. 23 jerseys in crowds this season since defensive back C.J. Gardner-Johnson is switching from No. 8 back to his college number worn at Florida. Before joining the Texans in the Kenyon Green trade, he wore No. 22 (New Orleans), No. 2 (Detriot) and No. 23 (Phiadelphia) during his first six seasons in the pros. After returning to Philly, he wanted to pay homage of Philadelphia and NBA legend Kobe Bryant, which boded well in helping the Eagles win their first Super Bowl since 2017.

Linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair also plans on changing his number since the Texans revealed that All-Pro returner Braxton Berrios would be wearing No. 0 in 2025. No one knows what the number will be, but it's easy to assume that the former San Francisco star will switch back to No. 2, his jersey number from his college days at Florida Atlantic.
