Tennessee football offers son of former Bengals' defensive lineman

Tennessee offered a scholarship to four-star safety Robert Geathers III.

"After a great visit, I am blessed to receive an offer from Tennessee," Geathers III said.

His father Robert Geathers Jr. played 11 seasons with the Bengals. Geathers III uncles, Clifton Geathers and Kwame Geathers, also played in the NFL. His great uncle, Jumpy Geathers, played for four NFL franchises in a 14-year career, two of which won Super Bowl championships.

Geathers III is from Providence Day School in Charlotte, North Carolina. Tennessee offensive lineman David Sanders Jr. and former Vols' basketball player Grant Williams are from Providence Day.

UCF was the first school to offer Geathers III a scholarship. He holds additional scholarship offers from Virginia Tech, USC, Syracuse and Duke.
