Should the Ravens retool the secondary, or add an edge rusher or DT with first-round pick?

The Ravens' 2025 NFL Draft spot has been determined and set following their divisional playoff loss to the Bills three months ago. We're just 13 days away from the Titans being on the clock in Round 1, and the next two weeks will be about finalizing draft boards.

Baltimore has the 27th overall pick in the first round, one spot ahead of the Detroit Lions and just behind the Los Angeles Rams. The Ravens have picked at No. 27 twice in franchise history, selecting wide receiver Rashod Bateman in 2021 and cornerback Jimmy Smith in 2011.

Baltimore has needs at cornerback, offensive guard, and edge rusher, and there are questions about whether Eric DeCosta will draft for need, take the best player available, or let the board dictate what happens.

ESPN's Jamison Hensley and Jordan Reid recently provided the latest Intelligence on Baltimore's thinking, and the organization seems undecided at this point.

Instead of adding to its secondary, the more likely scenario is Baltimore taking an edge rusher or defensive tackle to improve its pass defense. The Ravens did not blitz often in their first season with defensive coordinator Zach Orr -- their 20% blitz rate ranked 26th in the NFL. They need to be more disruptive up front to reduce deep throws. They ranked 29th in pass rush win rate last season, beating 33% of pass blocks within 2.5 seconds.

Baltimore has 11 picks and waited until round three in 2024 to select Adisa Isaac from Penn State. The rookie pass rusher was a non-factor in year one as Isaac saw action in four games and played 32 defensive snaps. A hamstring issue delayed his NFL debut, which sidelined him for the Ravens' first two games.
